Pikler method - briefly and concisely explained
shares
Emmi Pikler was a Hungarian pediatrician who introduced a new philosophy of care and education for children under the age of three after the end of World War II.
After the birth of her first child, she asked herself questions like: What happens when you let a child grow freely ? She introduced a new method that has become one of the most important approaches in education today.
According to Pikler's method of parenting , the physical health of the child is considered when conveying emotions to children , but the individuality and autonomy of the children are strongly emphasized in this approach.
The best-known "aid" of the Pikler method is the Pikler triangle , colloquially also called the climbing triangle.
This promotes the free development of the children . With this approach, adult intervention is largely superfluous and the environment is designed with great care, allowing the child to experience the space and move freely.
